Inria Identity Font

The institut needed a typographic system to go along with the new brand identity. The previous typeface did not fit anymore their brand because it looked too dated and connoted technology in a too obvious manner. Black[Foundry] had to create a bespoke design that would not only evoke the digital aspect, but also a sense of humanity, technology, excellence and creativity.

The Black[Foundry] team created a type system in two related styles, Serif and Sans-Serif, that can both be used in body-copy and at display sizes. The result is a contemporary design in the Sans, while the Serif calls for more literary and romantic feel. Both members come in 4 weights with matching italics.
